Why choose MU?
Situated on top of Kahlenberg hill overlooking Vienna’s infamous vineyards, MU is one of Austria’s most international campuses. MU’s student and staff body is comprised of over 75 nationalities, bringing individual perspectives which will truly enrich the study experience. Aside from a global education, incoming students will also have the opportunity to make friends and connections from all over the world just by being in Vienna.
MU stands for mentorship and a strong sense of belonging for all students. Small class sizes averaging around 22 students for undergraduate programs and 10 for graduate programs ensure a more personal learning experience. With the teaching focus being on delivering a truly international education, all classes are taught exclusively in English and most interactions between staff and students on campus take place in English too.
Incoming exchange students benefit from a broad range of choice in the classes they can take. The Academic Office and Student Services departments provide special services to incoming exchange students, including course advising and registration, the opportunity to have an MU buddy and participation in special events. This ensures that all our incoming students feel at home, quickly.
Plan your exchange
MU accepts students from institutions where an existing Erasmus+ or bilateral exchange partnership is in place. Our incoming exchange program is open to both undergraduate and graduate students.
Students first apply to their home institution for nomination. The home institution receives all information about application deadlines, procedures and semester dates on a continuous basis. A course catalog can be provided in advance on request and students are welcome to contact MU’s International Studies Coordinator (via the Academic Office) with questions before they make a final decision to apply.
Nomination and application procedure
Students must be nominated by their home institution before the application deadline. MU’s nomination / application deadlines are as follows:
For exchange in the following FALL semester:
- Nomination deadline (by home institution): on a rolling basis
- Application deadline (student applies directly to MU): 15. May
For exchange in the following SPRING semester:
- Nomination deadline (by home institution): on a rolling basis
- Application deadline (student applies directly to MU): 15. November
Applications are reviewed and accepted by the International Studies Coordinator. Students may be asked to adjust their course choices*. If the application is successfully accepted, students receive an acceptance letter and an information pack including important information, deadlines and dates for the upcoming semester.
*Sometimes, due to scheduling constraints, courses may not be available due to schedule clashes. In these cases, incoming students may need to adjust their original course choice and will be supported in this process by the Academic Office.
