DO YOU NEED A VISA?
Depending on your citizenship, you may require a visa, residence permit or both to study in Austria at MU Vienna.
Visa procedures are subject to change. We always advise checking the homepages of the Austrian Ministry of the Interior and the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Ministry for European and International Affairs), as well as the Vienna Immigration Office MA35 for regular updates.

The document states that you are in Austria to pursue studies at a university. There is a €15 fee for this.

Within three days of moving to Austria, everyone must register at their new address. Similarly, if you move out of a flat or house, you also need to de-register within three days before or after moving out.
The residence registration is done at any Residence Registration Service Centre in Vienna. You can book an appointment using the online reservation tool.
The residence registration form (Meldezettel) must be signed by you and the person who owns the flat or house you live in or rents it to you.
EXTENDING YOUR RESIDENCE PERMIT
The Residence Permit “Student” is granted for one year. If you already possess an Austrian Residence Permit “Student” and you need to renew it, applications for renewal can be submitted up to 3 months and latest on the last day before it expires at your local MA35 office responsible for the Viennese district you are registered in (not at the headquarters where your first residence permit was issued). Please note that it can take up to 3 weeks to get an appointment for the submission of your renewal application.
