You can use the student portal to download a copy of your curriculum overview, which provides a clear overview of what courses you should take in each semester of your studies.  

As a student, it’s important that you take time to familiarize yourself with some of the university’s most important rules and procedures. We recommend that each student read through 1) the Study Guidelines for their respective program, 2) the University Examination Regulations and Student Code of Conduct, and 3) the university’s Guidelines on Fees. All of these documents and more can be found in the downloads area of the student portal.  

New students register for courses at the new student orientation. Continuing students can expect to register in the weeks before the semester starts using the registration page available in the student portal. Exact dates and times are posted online and in the student bulletin.  

Currently enrolled students can request a variety of official documents using the student portal. Use your student ID and login information to access the portal. There, you can find links to request transcripts and study confirmations and instructions on where to pick them up.  

You will hear if your application has been successful usually within 10 days after your application interview. If admitted, you will receive notification and relevant documents by email.  If unsuccessful, all applicants will receive notification also by email. 

The letter of motivation is a very important part of your application, which will assist the university in learning about your goals and reasons for wanting to study the program of interest, as well as helping us to get an idea of who you are as an individual. Your letter of motivation must be written in English, and should be approximately one A4 sized typed page in length. Some points to consider are: educational and personal background, motivation for business/tourism studies, career plans, expectations etc. 

You can already go ahead and apply! If accepted, we will offer you a ‘provisional acceptance’, which means that a place in the program is reserved for you. This place will become definite once you submit your certificate to us. You must submit your most up-to-date transcript with your application.

Complete your registration and log in. Once logged in you will see the "Apply Now" button on the right-hand side, click this to begin.

Yes, you can, however, you will need to have a guardian in Austria. Your guardian must be over the age of 18 and a legal resident of Austria. Additionally, your guardian must provide a letter of reference for you that states that he/she is legally and financially responsible for you. This letter of reference must be notarized. Proper documentation will have to be provided at the notary. 

The CV should be a general summary of your personal, educational, and professional background. A typical CV will start off with a personal information section, including name, contact details, date of birth, citizenship, etc. This should be followed by a section containing information about your education, and a section on your professional background, including any voluntary work or internships. If you like, you can include a section on your personal interests and skills. 

• Practical experience already completed as part of the curriculum requirement of a vocational secondary education (e.g. Höhere Lehranstalt für Tourismus, Kolleg, HBLA, etc.). Exceptions can be made for candidates with extensive work experience (i.e. 2 or more years of full time employment in the tourism or hospitality industry); 
• A minimum of 900 hours work experience completed consecutively within one company, or 2 periods of work experience of min. 450 hours completed within two companies; 
• Full time employment during the internships; 
• Work experience must be completed within the tourism or hospitality industry; 

Approved credit transfer currently results in a deduction of 150 EUR per ECTS and is deducted from the second tuition fee installment. Please note: This is only applicable to course credit transfers submitted prior to the commencement of studies at MU. No deduction applies for internship credit transfer. 

Course credits earned at an external institution will be transferred without the inclusion of a grade. All courses credited toward the study program will be labeled with the abbreviation “CT*” on the academic transcript of records and counted toward the total ECTS of the study program. 

This form: Application for External Credit Transfer 2024 serves to apply for credit transfer of: A) courses/ examinations; and/or B) practical experience. Please note: Requests for credit transfer are subject to approval by the Dean of the study program or an authorized liaison officer. 

Applicants that have attended another (higher) education institution, such as an Austrian vocational high school with business or hospitality focus, national or foreign universities, colleges or summer schools. This form and outlined procedures do not apply to students from Global Campuses of MU. 

The Student Services Centre organizes about 20 extracurricular events per semester, and they comprise a wide variety of topics: social, cultural, career etc. (see event calendar). Students are encouraged to join as many events as they like! 

Students can also start their own Student Clubs or join an existing club, currently active clubs include the Photography Club or the Wine Club.  

Vienna Airport boasts excellent connectivity to the city's public transport network, offering quick, comfortable, and cost-effective travel options.

1. City Airport Train (CAT ) provides a swift link between the airport and downtown (Wien Mitte) with trains operating every 30 minutes from 5:37 am to 11:38 pm.

   ÖBB Railjet connects the airport to Vienna Main Station (U1) and Wien Meidling station (U6) twice an hour

2. Express train S7 conveniently stops at key central stations like Wien Mitte (in about 25 minutes) and Wien Praterstern (in about 30 minutes). 

3. Bus connections: The Vienna Airport Lines buses cater to various city destinations, including the city center, Donauzentrum, Messezentrum, Vienna International Centre (VIC)/Austria Center Vienna, Westbahnhof, and Vienna Main Station.

Yes, we offer a Visa Support service for all incoming students who require either a visa and/or a residence permit for Austria.  

Once you have been officially accepted to Modul University Vienna and paid your first tuition fee payment, OneVasco will reach out to you. 

It is very important that you begin your visa and “Student” residence permit application immediately and we give suggested deadlines for this to help you stay on track. 

Please note: It is up to you to make an appointment with the Austrian authority (embassy, consulate) in your home country to inquire which specific steps must be taken and which specific documents must be submitted. We will provide a Visa support service which will help you along the way, but ultimately the responsibility is yours.

This depends on your citizenship and country of residence. For citizens of some countries it can be a matter of weeks, but for citizens of most other countries, the process can take between 3-6 months. This is not something the university can predict, thus we suggest that you always check the current waiting times with the embassy in your country.
