Vienna/Hong Kong, October 9th, 2023 – Modul University Vienna today announced a cooperation with The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
The background to the cooperation is a mutual recognition of the studies, which enables students to obtain two degrees in the field of hospitality and tourism in four years. The mobility agreement is scheduled to start in autumn 2024 and will allow participants to study in both Vienna and Hong Kong to experience the diversity of the tourism and hospitality industry in different cultures.
An agreement on the mutual recognition of parts of the other study programme between the School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the School of Tourism and Service Management of the Modul University Vienna makes this offer possible. The duration of study is only four years instead of seven, with two years at the home university and two years at the host university. At the beginning of their studies, students receive the security of a stay abroad at the other university and then a degree from each institution.
"The new mobility agreement between Modul University Vienna and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University provides our students with a cross-border educational experience of outstanding quality. It strengthens their career prospects and gives them a deep understanding of the global interrelationships in the fields of tourism, event and hotel management," explains Prof. Kaye Chon, Dean, Chair Professor and Walter and Wendy Kwok Family Foundation Professor in International Hospitality Management of the School of Hotel and Tourism Management at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
"The School of Hotel and Tourism Management at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University is the leader in tourism and hospitality in Asia, leading almost all major professional rankings worldwide. We are proud to be part of this international partnership and to accompany our students on their way to becoming successful global leaders," says Modul University Vienna Rector and Managing Director, Karl Wöber.
